Eagles News · SVHS WEEKLY UPDATE-WEEK OF MARCH 5TH- SPRING SPORTS-MEET THE COACHES NIGHT INFORMATION

Good morning SV Community,

Spring Sports is here.  We successfully kicked off Spring Sports this past Thursday. Though we were stuck inside, most teams were able to get in some gym time and started off the season on a great note. Spring practices continue this week- with a normal schedule for this afternoon. Please make sure to refer to our website www.svhsathletics.org and under the more tab- practice and event calendar- the Click here icon. There you can sync our google practice calendar so that you will always know when practices and events are.

**NOTE- Allied softball begins Tuesday, March 6th, 2018

**NOTE-The Seneca Valley Athletic Department is setting Wednesday evening as a cutoff to join spring sports. SO, if you are still interested, make sure to register asap!

We had a crazy 3 day weekend- due to the wind, but it is important to remember that we are now officially half way through the quarter. As a parent/guardian- please make sure to register for the mymcps parental portal and monitor their grades. With this access, you will always know where they stand academically and how you can assist them at home to perform at their highest level.  You should NEVER be surprised by their grades at the end of the quarter and they need your support and assistance to keep them on track.

**NOTE** If you registered your child for spring sports -that means you also have easy access to their grades!

NOTES/RECAP FROM LAST WEEK.

Wrestling:

Semaj Meannu wrestled at the State Championships on Saturday. Though he he was unable to advance, he had a great season and has learned a lot in preparation for his Senior year.

The Varsity Boys Basketball team had their season come to an end last Wednesday when they fell to Williamsport  56-53 in the Section Championship game. The game marked the end of a remarkable run for several seniors. The class played in four section finals, three regional finals and made two State Semi-Final appearances. Proud of all of them and the rest of the team for a very successful season.

SCREAMING EAGLE INVITATIONAL -SATURDAY MARCH 24TH

On Saturday, March 24th- our track and field team will once again be hosting their annual Track and Field Invitational. (At Watkins Mill HS) This has become one of the biggest track meets in the area and attracts great public and private teams from the DC Metro area. It is a great event and a blast to be a part of. As you can imagine, to run such an event, requires a lot of volunteers throughout the day. This ranges from helping to man specific events, to helping out in the concession stand. We are encouraging parents/guardians to contact Head Track Coach Chris Colbert or Athletic Director Jesse Irvin if you are interested in helping in any manner. The event runs from 9 am until 6 pm- with help needed as early as 7 am and as late as 7 pm. Any time commitment is welcome. Thanks in advance for making the event such a great one.
