Last week we saw our JV Seasons come to an end and the regular seasons wrap up for the majority of our sports, with baseball and softball finishing today. Playoff seeding and schedules will be released over the next 24-48 hours. Information regarding, dates, times and opponents will be communicated with you as we receive it.  Please continue to encourage your student athletes to stay focused on their school work and please make sure to be monitoring their grades via the MYmcps parental portal.

Track and Field:

The Track and Field team was finally able to make up their meet against Damascus, that was originally scheduled for the first week of the season in March.


Girls fell 71-64

Boys lost 58-47

The team then competed in the Katie Jenkins Invitational on Saturday at Sherwood High School. A few highlights below:

On a rainy Saturday Afternoon in Sandy Spring, Md the Seneca track team had a good day on the track and in the field, posting many personal records and top finishes.

On the Girls side Deborah Gnoumou had a stellar day, walking away with 3 medals and 1 ribbon. Deborah was a double winner in both the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. She posted a new PR in the 300 Hurdles. She also anchor the 2nd place 8 by 200 relay team and placed 4th in the high Jump with a personal record of 4ft 10in. Her 26 points was the most individual points by any competitor in the meet. Giselle Badoo Placed 2nd in the 100 dash. Regina Penda Placed 7th in the 400 dash. Chelsea Montou finished 6th in the 3200 run. The 4 by 800 team placed 6th also.

Other highlights included Brittanya Brown running a new PR in the 300 hurdles, 56.93, Samantha Bailey scoring in both the Long and Triple Jump. Sharon Godonou also scoring in the triple jump.

On the boys side, the highlight was senior Jayden Pierson competing in the Quadrathlon in the morning portion of the meet. This included a 400 meter, Long jump, discus, and 1500 run. By earning point based on his performance in each event, Jayden placed 6th.

Jamal Snowden placed 5th in the long jump, 6th in the triple jump and 4th in the high jump. Barry Boubacar had 2 personal records, 2:11.21 in the 800  and 4:53.07 in the 1600 run.  Ryan Padilla ran a personal record, 53.50 in the 400 dash and Jeffery Roach ran a personal record, 24.52 in the 200 dash. Boys 4 by 100 and 4 by 800 teams both finished 6th.

Boys and Coed Volleyball:

The teams celebrated their senior nights on Monday along with the Track and Field team.

The team fell to Whitman and wrapped up their seasons. It was a good season for both teams, and they grew as the season progressed. Coaches and student athletes feel that a foundation has been placed to help the team be successful in the future.

Thank you to our Senior Volleyball student athletes. Good luck in the future.

Boys Lacrosse:

The JV Boys lacrosse team wrapped up their season on Wednesday with a loss to Poolesville. The team worked hard all year and are already ready for next season.

The Varsity boys Lacrosse team ended their regular season with two losses last week and will await playoff seeding to determine their 1st round playoff opponent.

Results- 20-0 to Poolesville

19-1 To Gaithersburg.

On Friday vs. Gaithersburg- the team honored their 10 seniors.

Girls Lacrosse:

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team wrapped up their regular season last week with two great games, but came up short in both.

Falling 11-10 to Kennedy and 5-4 to Gaithersburg.

The Team recognized their 13 seniors on Friday night after their game against Gaithersburg.

Varsity and JV Softball:

The JV Softball team finished up their season last week with a tie 15-15 to Einstein and a tough loss to Churchill 20-14. The team scored a lot or runs this season and are looking to continue to grow heading into next year.

The Varsity Softball team had a very busy week playing four games. They wrap up their regular season tonight vs. Magruder and will recognize their seniors prior to the game.

Tuesday, lost to Winston Churchill 12-4

Wednesday, lost to Clarksburg 8-1

Friday, defeated Wheaton 37-11

Playoff schedule will be released tomorrow.

Varsity and JV Baseball:

The Varsity Baseball team also had a busy week playing four games. The team will honor their seniors prior to tonight’s game against Northwood.

Playoff seeding will be released on Tuesday.


Monday, defeated Springbrook 15-5

Wednesday, lost to Clarksburg 10-3

Thursday, fell 9-3 to Einstein

Friday, Defeated Wheaton 7-3

Boys Tennis:

The Boys tennis team fell 7-0 on Monday to Richard Montgomery and they also recognized their seniors.

The Boys Tennis team defeated Watkins Mill 7-0 last week to complete their regular season. Jako Domingo and Francisco Granados won at singles. The team finished 3-3 in division and overall 4-8 a vast improvement from last year. The team now prepares for County Tournament

Baseball will be recognized at approximately 5 pm prior to their game.- South Germantown Field F

Softball will be recognized at approximately 5 pm prior to their game.-MLK


On May 11th, during lunch (11:10 AM) in the auditorium, Seneca Valley High School will recognize the Senior Student Athletes who will be continuing their Athletic Careers at the Collegiate Level.  Student Athletes being honored will receive invitations in the mail by the end of the week.  However this event is open to anyone who would like to come to the ceremony and recognize our hard working student athletes. You will need to check in at the front office upon arrival.

Seneca Valley HS would like to welcome and introduce Ms. Latoya Dyson as our new Varsity Cheerleading Coach. Ms. Dyson spent the previous two seasons as our JV Coach. She is excited to get started. Please be on the lookout for an interest meeting that will take place in a few weeks. If you have more questions, please reach out to Coach Dyson and she will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
