Eagles News · Weekly Update Week of March 11th- IMPORTANT DATES-EXTREME NEED FOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL AND BOYS LACROSSE

Good Afternoon SV Community,

The Cold seems to have finally broken. We are hoping to be outside for practices all week. Thank you for your patience as we had adjusted schedules the first several days of practice. We are still in major need of student athletes- especially male student athletes. Specifically for our boys Volleyball and Boys lacrosse teams. Please make sure to register online asap so that you can join. Please make sure you are checking in with your student athletes teachers and monitoring their academics via the mymcps parental portal . There should be no excuse for not being aware of the academic progress of your student athlete.

Please keep reading for important updates and recaps from our athletic events.

ATTENDANCE/TARDINESS

The Athletic department would like to remind all student athletes and parent/guardians of student athletes that student athletes are required to be in class every day for all 7 periods. A parental note is not an excused absence.

We would also like to remind all student athletes that they are required to change and participate in pe in order to participate in a practice or game that day.

Attention: New Policy. If a student athlete receives more than 2 tardies from class during a week period- they are suspended for a contest. It is important that our student athletes understand the important of being on time and working hard in all of their classes each day.

And finally a reminder that all of our student athletes have made a commitment to excellence and therefore should be attending practice every day and failure to do so may lead to dismissal from the their team

11th Annual Screaming Eagle Invitational Track Meet -Volunteers needed

This year our track team will once again be hosting our Screaming Eagle Invitational Track and Field Meet- March 23rd, 2019. This is our 11th annual meet and it is a great event.  For the 2nd straight year, due to our school construction- Watkins Mill High School has graciously agree to host once again.

As many of you know this is a very large event and we are looking at having close to 35 teams from both public and private schools in MD, VA and DC attend. We are also expecting to have at least 1,000 spectators in attendance.

This is a very large, but fun event and a great experience for our kids as well as the visiting schools.

As you can imagine, to run an event of this capacity, we need lots of help.  Hence the purpose of this email.  We are hoping that you would be willing to help out in some capacity.  You do not have to have track experience and you only have to commit to a minimum of two hours, though we would love to have you for more.

If you are interested in helping out- please use the sign up genius link below and feel free to reach out to Athletic Director Jesse Irvin or Head Track Coach Chris Colbert with additional questions or comments.

In addition to adults needed for this event, Please note that we are also looking for students to help out and they would be able to earn SSL hours. If you know of a student who is in need of SSL hours, please contact Mr. Chris Colbert and he will let you know what is needed.

The SV track and field team, as well as Athletic Director Jesse Irvin, would like to thank you in advance for you helping out and we look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Go Screaming Eagles.

Please note you can find our schedule on our website www.svhsathletics.org for future games.

Please contact Athletic Director Jesse Irvin if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks
