ONLINE REGISTRATION

Please note that ALL student athletes who desire to participate in Fall sports in MCPS must register online. This is done via the mymcps parental portal

The first day of Tryouts is August 14th, (see schedule below and attached) and all student athletes must be registered online in order to participate. Specific information is located on our website under files and links. We have also attached a document “How to register online for interscholastic Athletics programs” for your convenience.

In order to help facilitate those that may have a need for online access- SVHS will be holding an online registration day on Tuesday, August 13th. Chromebooks will be available at school during the day for the registration.

The Seneca Valley Athletic Department is aware that a few of you are having complications registering your student athlete via My mcps parental portal (link- https://portal.mcpsmd.org/public/?login ).

It is important to note a few items:
• For future reference the registration window opens several weeks prior to the first day (July 15th) and will do so again for Winter sports. As with anything done online, it is important to do things in advance to avoid any last minute complication.
• You must first register via the Mymcps parental portal (https://portal.mcpsmd.org/public/?login). This is done by creating a username (your email) and then YOU create the password.
o If you have registered in the past- and have forgotten your password- contact Athletic Director Jesse Irvin, via email and he can assist you.
• After creating your account- you then will link your student athletes – using their access id and access password. (Sent in the mail in late June) (If you have misplaced it- then the parent/guardian must email Athletic Director Jesse Irvin for the codes. Student athletes ARE NOT ALLOWED to receive this information.
o Please note- this is NOT their student id and school password
o After linking your student athlete- you will log back in and click on their name in the upper left hand corner.
o You will then scroll down and click on Fall Athletic Registration.
• When completing your registration- please make sure to include an updated physical clearance page -signed by a doctor. You can upload this by scanning it or by taking a picture and uploading it.
o Student athletes will not be cleared to tryout unless they have an updated physical. (See attached)
 NOTE- If the physical is brought in on the day of tryouts- it will delay their ability to start practice until it is cleared through the athletic director’s office.
 please send it via email or drop it off prior to August 14th
• The deadline for student athletes being guaranteed the opportunity to practice/tryout on day 1- is Monday, August 12th

2019-2020 Kickoff Celebration- August 28th- 2 pm Gymnasium

SVHS athletics will be holding a Kick off the Year- Event for ALL student athletes on August 28th at 2 pm in the Gymnasium. This event will be in place for the seasonal meetings for the student athletes. It is mandatory for FALL, WINTER AND SPRING student athletes. Important information will be shared, but we will also have a Lead Em Up kickoff celebration. This is for student athletes only! All students will sign an electronic contract.

• Advertising and Sponsorships. The Seneca Valley Athletic Department has great sponsorship opportunities. If you, or someone you know, owns a business, please have them take a look at the attached documents ( Advertising and Banner Opportunities- 2019-2020 and appendix 2) and contact the athletic department.

o A big promotion we have going right now- is our #SVproud campaign. We are asking all community members, from teachers, students and alumni, to parent/guardians, relatives and business owners to take pictures wearing Seneca Valley apparel and to post it on Social Media using the hashtag.
o This is a great way for everyone to see how proud everyone is to be a Seneca Valley Screaming Eagle!

Due to year three of construction of our new state-of-the-art school that is being built, there will again be some adjustments in terms of practice and games.

Unfortunately we will be unable to host any home outdoor events for at least another year. The Athletic department has spent the last few months putting together a schedule that will best work for our student athletes and the constraints given to us due to the new build. Below is a brief update on “FALL” athletics teams and where they will be practicing and playing games. Attached to this email- are also overhead photos- showing the exact location of our off site practices.
This information will also be available on our website throughout the year.

This is subject to change, so please follow us on Twitter and Instagram @svhsathletics, or on Facebook and sign up for eaglesbulletin and frequent our website for any updates or changes. www.svhsathletics.org
