Eagles News · Important Athletic Notes and Updates- Meet the Coaches/pictures and fundraising- 11-18-19

Good afternoon SV Community,

This past Friday, we kicked off our winter sports season for most of our teams. It was exciting to see all of our student athletes and coaches working so hard and ready to compete for the season.

Girls and Boys Basketball had a great turnout and the practices were full of energy and great competition.  The teams are taking shape and final rosters will be announced soon.

Our Indoor track team is looking to make some noise in the 2A this year and they started off strong with a great practice on Saturday morning.

We are excited to have a great group of Wrestling Coach’s this year, including head Coach Bernard Wolley, a two time state Champion and Seneca Valley Alum. We are however in need of some more wrestlers to round out our team. If you are interested please make sure to contact the coach or the athletic office as soon as possible.

Poms is continuing their season from the fall and is working hard to prepare for their competition February 1st.

The rest of our teams are starting over the next few days.

Our Cheer is holding tryout this week for the winter basketball and wrestling seasons

Our Swim team kicks off bright and early tomorrow morning at 5 am at Germantown Indoor Swim Center

And our final sport of the winter season- bocce will begin Monday, December 2nd.

If you have questions or concerns please make sure to check our website for important coaching contact information and other up to date information.

A few important updates and reminders for the Winter Season:

Baseline Testing

We are offering baseline testing today at 3 pm and tomorrow at 3 pm for those winter student athletes who have not yet been tested. All student athletes are required to be tested at least once in order to participate in high school athletics. This must be completed prior to them participating in a scrimmage or game.

Student athlete kick off meeting- make up session

This summer we held a large kick off meeting for our student athletes. Any athlete that did not attend, and DID NOT play a fall sport, will need to meet with Athletic Director Jesse Irvin and complete a makeup packet/session prior to them participating in a scrimmage or game.

Monday, November 25th is a busy day for our winter sports teams

On this day we will be conducting our Team Pictures, schedule to be distributed later in the week, Fundraising Kick off and then our Winter Meet the Coaches Night.

** This excludes our Poms, who already have their team picture and Bocce- who will set up a time at a later date.

Fundraising is an essential part of our athletic program and is necessary in order for us to operate a successful athletic program. After each teams allotted picture time, they will do a 15 minute launch of the email campaign.  Student athletes should come to this event prepared with at least 20 emails to enter.  The campaign will last three weeks and then our fundraising is completed for the winter.  It is important that all student athletes participate and use legit and valid emails.

Meet the Coaches:

We will be holding our Winter Meet the Coaches Night, Monday, November 25th at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium. At 6:00 pm parents/guardians will have the opportunity to meet with the boosters and PTSA.  There will be a general session in the Auditorium starting at 6:30 for all parent/guardians, followed by team-specific meetings with our coaches. Student athletes are not expected to attend.

Some topics covered included in the meetings:

  • Athletic Staff Introductions
  • Sportsmanship
  • Attendance Policy
  • Super vision and after school policy
  • Athletic Trainer
  • NCAA Eligibility
  • SVHS Booster Club

Every student athlete is must have one parent/guardian representative present at the team specific breakout session in order to participate during the season. Students do not need to attend.  Please contact me with any questions regarding our athletic department.  Failure to not have a representative present, will lead the student athlete to be held out from practice and games.

** Our Poms and Bocce teams do not need to attend this meeting. The Bocce team will be holding a separate meeting after their teams are selected**

Please feel free to reach out to our athletics office if you have any questions or concerns. And also make sure to follow us on twitter, facebook, Instagram and our website www.svhsathletics.org for all up to the second information.
