Good Afternoon SVHS Community


Hard to believe but we are now officially half way through the school year, with the first day of the 2nd Semester starting tomorrow.  Along with the new semester our Winter sports are preparing for the playoff grind and JV seasons are coming to an end. With the new Semester also comes preparation for Spring Sports. Please see below for important information.



With the new semester, it is a great time to start fresh. Many students will have new classes and new teachers. Academics is so important and it also important that you as a parent/guardian make sure you checking on your students grades via the MyMCPS parental portal. https://portal.mcpsmd.org/public/

Wednesday, January 29th

Wrestling will host Richard Montgomery at 6:15 pm

Friday, January 31st

Girls Basketball will travel to Damascus JV 5:30/ V 7:15

Boys Basketball will host Damascus JV 5:30/ V 7:15- This is a spirit game- wear your green and gold and students with SV id- gain free admission thanks to our booster club.

Saturday, February 1st

Swim and Dive- Division IV Championships- Olney Swim Center 7:30 am

Bocce- playoffs – Quince Orchard HS- 10Am

Poms- County Championships- Blair HS 10:30 AM.  There will be a spirit bus for SV students who turn in a permission slip and boosters is covering the cost of the first 50 who are attending. Please use link and turn into Mr. Irvin by Friday


Wrestling will take on Northwood and Watkins Mill at Northwood at 1 pm

Indoor Track- 2A West Regional Championships 2 pm- at South Hagerstown CC

Monday, February 3rd

JV/V Boys Basketball at Einstein 530/715

Our awesome booster club is once again looking for assistance with running our concession stand for winter basketball games. If you are able to work please use the link below and sign up. Please note that funds raised goes to all Seneca Valley clubs and athletic teams.

Winter Sports Senior Nights- please note below when they will take place


Boys and Girls Basketball and Winter Cheer and Indoor Track- vs BCC VG- 530/ VB 715- Basketball Seniors will be recognized in between the games. Indoor Track will be recognized at halftime of the Girls game and Cheer will be recognized at halftime of the Boys game.




Seneca Valley Athletics along with our SVHS Captains Council continues to create opportunities to increase school spirit and get fans in attendance at our athletic events. Please note the following events that are dedicated spirit events and what we are doing to help promote the event.

Boys Basketball- Friday, January 31st vs Damascus- JV 530/V 715- SVHS students with a valid student id will get into the event free.

This is thanks to our awesome Booster club who will cover the cost.

Poms- Saturday February 1st– MCPS Pom Championships- Blair HS 10:30 AM- Our booster club will provide tickets to the first 50

SVHS Students who turn in a permission slip and the SVHS athletic department will provide a free bus.






The online registration window for Spring Sports opens on January 31st.  Please note that all student athletes interested in participating in Spring Sports must register online via the MyMCPS parental portal. The deadline for registering to be cleared for a February 29th Tryout is Wednesday, February 26th.

For those who will be in need of assistance with the registration process, the SVHS athletic department will be available on Monday, February 24th and Tuesday, February 25th from 3 pm until 8 pm to assist in person with anyone who needs it. Chromebooks will be provided.

Please note that student athletes must be eligible based on 2nd quarter grades and must have a valid and up to date physical from a doctor.
