JIm Vollmer Invitational – 4/14/18
The weather was wonderful for track and field and the team made the most of the warm weather with many personal record performances. We started the day with Deborah Gnoumou and Vanessa Ventura competing in the 400 hurdles. This is the only time all year that they will compete in this event. Deborah placed 4th in her first time ever running this event with a time of 1:11.34 and Vanessa PR’d in her 2nd time ever running this race with a time of 1:18.58 for 16th place.
Vanessa also PR’d in the 800 with a time 2:47.88
100 meter dash – Giselle Badoo Qualified for the finals with a PR in of 12.59, then went on to place 6th in a very close race. Shy’yon Frazier and Maurice Whitsett also Pr’d in the prelims.
200 Meter Dash – Giselle PR’d again with a time of 26.42 and a 5th place finish. Sahirra Burgess also PR’d with a time of 28.33. Ryan Padilla PR’d for the boys with a time of 24.52
400 Meter Dash – all 7 entries had a PR or season best. For the girls Ever Elegon was our top performer with a season best 1:00.90 while nursing a hamstring injury, Corine Gesse ran 1:03.14 and Freshman Regina Penda ran 1:04.34. On the boys side, Joseph Kamdem ran 52.71, Jamal Snowden ran 54.84, Jeffrey Roach ran 54.90, and Ryan Padilla ran 55.48.
Distance team had a good day also. Boubacar Barry PR’d in all 3 distance race 2:14.34 in the 800, 4:56.14 in the 1600, and 10:48.53 in the 3200. The ladies had Chelsea Montuo PR’d for the 3rd meet in a row, running the 1600 in 6:03.08. Along with the previously mentioned Vanessa in the 800.
In the field events
Jamal Snowden PR’d in the long Jump for a 5th place finish with a jump of 20’1.75” and also placed 5th in the high jump. In the girls shot put Stacy Basemera, 28-01.75 was a season best, Chrystiana Soglo, 27-06.25 was a PR, and Mamouna Camara, 21-02.50 was a Season best. Alycia Rivera placed 6th in the high jump. In the long jump Deborah placed 5th with a 16-02.25 PR, Giselle,14-03.00 PR. In the triple jump Samantha Bailey also PR’d with a jump of 31-10.
The girls scored in all 4 events 4×100 placed 6th with a time of 51.60, 4×200 placed 8th with a time of 1:50.24, the 4×400 place 5th with a time of 4:16.24, and the 4×800 place 6th with a time of 11:14.90.
The boys relays 4×100 – 46.66, 4×200 1:39.19 and 4×400, 3:40.64 all are season best
